Posjetili smo Marko Polo centar

Danas su učenici eTwinning tima u sklopu projekta “Boosting Wellbeing at Schools“ bili u posjeti Marko Polo centru.

Today, students from the eTwinning team, as part of the project "Boosting Wellbeing at Schools," visited the Marco Polo Center. The Center's Director, Vicko Marelić, provided us with plenty of useful and interesting information about this world traveler and explorer who is undoubtedly connected to our city. Marco participated in the battle between Venice and Genoa, which took place in 1298 in our channel, after which he was captured and taken to prison in Genoa. There, with the help of the Italian writer Rustichelli, the book "The Book of Wonders," also known as "Il Milione," was created, thanks to which the whole world gained knowledge about previously unknown eastern parts of the world. This year marks the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo's death, which is another reason for us to learn more about this famous explorer, traveler, adventurer, merchant, and travel writer who is an important part of our history and tradition. And we took some time to stroll around the Old Town of Korčula.
